SEE - Intensive Film Immersion Program
Part one – an introductory course where participants will learn:
• Creativity workshop
• Screenplay formatting
• Script terminology
• Visual storytelling
• 3-act Structure
• Character arc - journey and goal
• Generating Ideas
• The class will finish with a group project where the participants will decide on a story which will be developed into a finished script.
Part two – an intensive class where participants will workshop the story idea into a properly structured screenplay.
Part three – an introduction to production tools. Students will learn:
• Camera basics – Covering the functionality of the DV camera, sound and lighting gear.
• Camera components
• Lens selection
• White balance
• Aperture
• Shutter speeds
• Gain
• Sound mixing
• VU metering
• Inputs and outputs
• Boom technique
• 3 point and 4 point lighting
• Working with daylight
• Diffusion and direct source
• Colour temperature
Part Four – From script to screen
• Composition
• The rule of thirds
• The 180 degree axis rule
• The 30 degree angle rule
• 11 basic shots
• Internal and externally generated camera movement
Part Five – On set – a practical exercise where the participants shoot the script written in class.
Part Six – Post Production
• Post theory
• Rules of cutting
• Non-linear editing software
• Capturing and digitizing

• Working with timecode
• Color Corection
• Sound effects, dialogue and music tracks

Part Seven – Participants will complete the editing of the in class film shoot and create the DVD master for the final screening.
